Are You Willing?

2.15.26 sermon by Phillip D. Mumford

Matthew 8 offers us a broad picture into the depth of the Jesus, and his ability to perform miracles. This sermon examines the diversity of these events and simply asks the listener: Are You Willing?

Matthew 8:1-4: When he came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him. [2] Right away a man with leprosy came up and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." [3] Reaching out his hand, Jesus touched him, saying, "I am willing; be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. [4] Then Jesus told him, "See that you don't tell anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."

Are you Willing?

1. Are you willing to come to Jesus and trust Him with all your brokenness, uncleanness, mess, and junk?
2. Are you willing to go to Jesus on behalf of others with full assurance that He can move mountains for whosoever regardless of the world’s labels?  How do we muster and attain such a faith like that of the centurion?
3. Are you willing to get up and serve?
4. Are you willing get in the boat with Jesus, knowing the possible dangers of the journey?
5. Are you willing to be rejected—run out of town—persecuted because of Jesus?
